On Tuesday morning, a lorry driver's day got off to “a rather unfortunate start" as the German police put it.  A failed turning maneuver saw the trucker cut through a fence and accidentally pick up a 1.5-ton boulder that wedged itself under the vehicle's trailer.

The accident occured at around 6.30 am in the Avendorf area when the lorry driver drove off in the direction of Fehmarn. The lorry’s trailer tore down a property fence and drove over a boulder, which got stuck underneath two rear axles of the vehicle.

The lorry driver initially did not notice what happened and ended up damaging the vehicle’s brake lines.

In order for the lorry to continue its journey, a crane had to be called in to lift the trailer up and separate it from the stone trapped underneath.

The lorry was then taken to a workshop to undergo repair, while the boulder was returned to its owner.
