Three years of prison, confiscation of driving license and the prohibition to drive a vehicle – that might be the penalty that he may receive. It’s demanded by the attorney who decided that the suspect posed a risk to people’s health and safety on the road near Calais in France. In what way? Supposedly, he was making sudden movements with his truck, exposing people to danger.
The history we described above happened in September last year. All hell was breaking loose on the road to the Calais port back then. Large groups of refugees attacking trucks were commonplace.
Anyone who travelled in these parts of Europe knew that in Calais you had to be very careful. But even maximum caution did not guarantee that the ride would be peaceful.
The Hungarian truck driver was unfortunate and encountered a group of refugees. He recorded the entire event. On the video you can see that the attackers probably didn’t have good intentions. The risk that he would be attacked and robbed was considerable.
That is why he decided to leave, not making any sudden manoeuvres. He managed to escape. What’s important, no attacker got hurt.
The Hungarian prosecution decided, however, that the driver is in violation of the law. They filed a suit. The accused is suspected of causing a dangerous situation on the road. According to the prosecution, the recording of the event available on YouTube is the proof. Now the Hungarian court will decide.
