The EU Commission’s scheme concerning labelling and listing TPAs (truck parking areas) in Europe published by IRU and ECMT has been a topic of a conference recently organised by EC in cooperation with the Belgian EU Presidency in Brussels.
The main issue concerned improving european truck parking by developing web-based platform (TRANSPark) with online information on TPAs’ availability, location and parking site facilities in 40 countries. The project aims at reduction of security risks in terms of drivers, vehicles and loads as well as improvement of basic conditions for observing strict social rules on driving and rest times of professional drivers.
