C.V.H. Transport Services Limited, trading as CVH Express, appointed joint liquidators on 16 September after entering creditors’ voluntary liquidation. The formal notices were published the following day.
Katrina Orum and Huw Powell of BTG Begbies Traynor have been appointed joint liquidators. The company’s registered and principal trading address was at the Pantglas Industrial Estate in Bedwas, near Caerphilly. The insolvency notice describes its business as haulage and storage.
Although C.V.H. Transport Services Limited was formally incorporated in May 1977, the company’s own history dates the family business back to 1973. It provided freight and logistics services across the UK and Europe from its South Wales base. One of the more unusual chapters in its history came during the 1970s and 1980s, when CVH says it became one of the first Welsh transport companies to operate overland freight services to the Middle East.
In later years, the company expanded into automotive transport, general haulage and white-glove deliveries, as well as same-day, next-day and multi-drop services. It also offered logistics management and freight coordination services. The company described itself as a family-run operator whose size allowed it to offer greater flexibility than larger logistics businesses.
No information has yet been published on the number of employees affected by the liquidation or the scale of outstanding debts.
The liquidation comes amid continuing pressure on the UK road freight sector. The Road Haulage Association has previously warned that insolvency levels among transport businesses remain substantially above those seen before the pandemic, with rising operating costs putting particular pressure on established operators.
