The service, known as the Consol Box, operates as a consolidated rail freight route from China to Belgium with onward distribution to other European countries. According to the company, the train service delivers cargo to Belgium in 17 to 18 days and includes both full container load (FCL) and less-than-container load (LCL) options.
The new route is part of Ziegler’s efforts to expand its presence across Asia. Feeder services from Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam have been integrated into the offering. These rely on road, air and sea transport to bring shipments to China for consolidation and onward rail transport to Europe.

Freight arriving in Welkenraedt is distributed using Ziegler’s existing European branch network. The company states it provides warehousing, road transport, and customs services from this location to other countries including the UK, France, and Germany.
The new route comes amid growing interest in mid-speed, lower-emission alternatives to air freight for shipments between Asia and Europe. According to Ziegler, the express rail service results in approximately 95% lower CO₂ emissions compared to air transport.
Other features of the service include GPS tracking and container space reservation on trains. The company also offers collection services from across China and handles customs clearance at both ends of the journey.
While several logistics providers already operate China–Europe rail services, Ziegler’s entry adds another option for shippers seeking time-sensitive and lower-carbon freight solutions. The company has not specified the departure location(s) within China or the service frequency.
