In what seems to be a means of promoting out-of-home deliveries, Amazon UK has announced it will hide hundreds of gifts inside parcel lockers as part of its latest sales event.
According to the logistics and ecommerce giant, the stunt is intended to celebrate its Prime Big Deal Days sales event on the 10th and the 11th of October.
During the two-day event, Amazon says it shall hide hundreds of items including earphones, mobile phones and beauty gift sets, for Prime members to find.
Customers who purchase goods online via Amazon can collect their online shopping from the surprise locker locations in London, Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester. After selecting this option, they will then be given the opportunity to pick a code, which will open a locker containing a free item to take away.
It appears that the promotional campaign is intended to raise awareness of out-of-home delivery options in the UK.
At the bottom of Amazon’s press release, it is said that in preparation for taking part in the sales event, customers should “explore all delivery options”.
The company emphasises that shoppers can select free delivery to Amazon Lockers or Counters, or choose a delivery day preference with Amazon Day to suit their preferences.
