The Belgian Road and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer, or AWV for short) has launched a pilot project in which a special system will inform drivers about vacancies in selected parking areas on the European route E17 between Ghent and Kortrijk.
The system informs truck drivers about the occupancy of 5 parking areas along the European route E17. Information for truckers is displayed on screens installed above the road.
With this pilot project, we want to achieve a better distribution of trucks in motorway parking areas,” comments Lydia Peeters, Flemish Minister for Mobility and Public Works.
In addition, information on the occupancy of selected parking areas will be available via the Truckmeister mobile application.
