The Flemish and Brussels authorities have announced the indexation of kilometre-based toll rates for all vehicles subject to the system. In Wallonia, the rates will remain unchanged, having already been updated on 1 January 2025.

The toll in Flanders and Brussels applies to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. The amount depends on the vehicle’s gross vehicle weight (GVW) — divided into three categories: >3.5 to 12 tonnes, >12 to 32 tonnes, and >32 tonnes — and its emission class, ranging from Euro 0 (the most polluting) to Euro 6 (the cleanest). Zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) will continue to benefit from a rate of 0 cents/km on roads in Flanders and Brussels, provided they have an active on-board unit (OBU). In Wallonia, ZEVs are classified under the Euro VI category.

OBU update

After 30 June 2025, the OBUs of the six certified providers — Axxès, Satellic, Telepass, Toll4Europe, TotalEnergies, and WAG Payment Solutions — will be automatically updated to reflect the new rates.

Possible update scenarios:

  • In most cases, the green light will appear within a few seconds.
  • In some cases, the update may take up to 3 minutes.
  • Certain devices may require an automatic restart.
