The service, branded FCA Flow, is aimed at simplifying the customs process for consignments traded under Free Carrier (FCA) incoterms — the most commonly used for UK–Benelux road freight.
According to Europa Road, the new system eliminates the need for T-forms, third-party clearance agents, and inland diversion for customs formalities. Instead, full loads can be cleared at the French port of Calais, which the company says significantly reduces transit times and operational costs.
Jack Baxter, General Manager for Benelux Sales & Full Load Operations at Europa Road, said the process is designed to address the “needlessly complex” requirements that still exist for FCA shipments five years after Brexit.
“Importers in Belgium and the Netherlands currently face longer transit times due to additional customs paperwork and clearance via third parties. FCA Flow removes these hurdles by facilitating clearance at the point of entry,” said Baxter.
The company also highlighted potential environmental benefits, citing reduced fuel consumption due to the elimination of detours to clearance depots.
Europa Road, part of the independent Europa Worldwide Group, has had a presence in Benelux since 2018 and operates over 30,000 Channel crossings annually. The FCA Flow launch follows its earlier rollout of a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) service for the Belgian and Dutch markets in 2022.
Europa claims to be the first logistics provider offering this particular type of FCA customs clearance to Benelux importers.
