BYD’s electric trucks imported to Europe will now be equipped with Geotab’s telematics hardware. This hardware captures detailed vehicle data, which, with customer agreement, will be used by BYD Trucks Europe to improve vehicle quality, maintenance, and service management. The aim is to reduce both planned and unplanned downtime.

In addition, BYD Trucks Europe will offer Geotab’s fleet telematics services to its customers. This will allow transport companies to access vehicle data insights, potentially improving efficiency, operations, cost management, and fleet sustainability.

“Our role as a supplier to BYD Trucks Europe highlights the reliance on Geotab’s technology to help BYD Trucks Europe optimise their operations and services to customers. This relationship supports our commitment to providing fleet management solutions with an emphasis on data security and privacy. We are pleased that this partnership will assist in the shift towards fleet electrification in Europe,” said Christoph Ludewig, Vice President of Leasing/Rental/Mobility & OEM of Geotab Europe.

The integration combines Geotab’s telematics hardware and data capabilities with BYD’s electric vehicle technology, providing access to vehicle data, analytics, and insights. All data will be transmitted and stored within a secure European database.

The partnership between Geotab and BYD Trucks Europe aims to provide fleet operators with a solution for managing the transition to electric vehicles. This collaboration is expected to enhance the performance and sustainability of electric fleets across Europe, aligning with broader efforts to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and promote sustainable fleet management practices.
