Check traffic restrictions for trucks in Europe in May

Plan ahead for safe travel during the upcoming Labour Day holiday. Check out the list of traffic bans in Europe.

Austria

The ban on traffic in Austria applies to tractor units with trailers of a maximum gross weight (MGW) of more than 3.5 tonnes, lorries, articulated vehicles with MGW of more than 7.5 tonnes. Austrians celebrate Labor Day, therefore, trucks cannot move on local roads:

– 1 May from 0:00 to 2 May until 5:00.

It should be remembered that on the Austrian roads, it is forbidden to drive trucks between 22:00 and 5:00.

Croatia

In Croatia, prohibitions cover heavy goods vehicles and sets with an MGW of over 7.5 t and trucks and vehicles with trailers exceeding 14 m in length.

30 April from 15:00 to 23:00,

1 May from 14:00 to 23:00.

Restrictions apply to trucks on the following national roads (D):

– D8: connection to D40 (Bakar intersection) – Zadar – Split – border crossing Klek and Zaton Doli – Dubrovnik – border crossing Karasovici (Montenegro), except for sections from the intersection with D 27 at the Sibenik bridge to the eastern entry to Sibenik (exit at D58), from the Bilice roundabout in Solen to the intersection with the shopping terminal in Stobrec,

– D9: Metkovic – Opuzen – D8,

– D21: border crossing Kastel (SLO) – Buje – Kanfanar crossing, except for section D21 connecting Kanfanar with Pula (connection to D66),

– D23: Zuta Lokva – Senj,

– D39: A1 Sestanovac connection – intersection with D8 (Dupci),

– D66: Pool (A9) – Race – Opatija – D8,

– D200: Buje (D21) – border crossing Plovanija (SLO),

– D300: Buje (D21) – Umag,

– From 5002: Novigrad – Tar – Porec – Vrsar (connection to D21),

– At the entrance and at the port of Split,

– At the entrance and at the Zadar port area.

Czech Republic

Traffic restrictions in the Czech Republic apply to trucks and vehicle combinations with a MGW of over 7.5 tonnes. On Czech roads, traffic mans apply on:

1 May from 13:00 to 22:00.

France

French traffic bans cover lorries and sets of vehicles with a MGW above 7.5 tonnes, with the exception of special vehicles and agricultural vehicles.

30 April from 22:00 to midnight,

1 May from 0:00 to 22:00.

Luxembourg

Holiday traffic restrictions in Luxembourg include heavy goods vehicles with a MGW of a maximum of 7.5 tonnes. May prohibitions apply on:

30 April from 21:30 to the north towards France and from 23:30 to the north towards Germany

1 May from 0:00 to 21:45

Germany

In Germany, during holidays, heavy goods vehicles with a MGW of over 7.5 tonnes and lorries with trailers are not permitted on roads. The restrictions apply on:

1 May from 0:00 to 22:00.

Poland

Driving bans for heavy-duty vehicles with a MGW above 12 tons will apply on the following days:

30 April from 18:00 to 22:00,

May 1 (Labor Day) from 8:00 to 22:00,

May 2 from 18:00 to 22:00,

May 3 (Constitution Day) from 8:00 to 22:00.

Slovakia

In Slovakia, holiday bans cover heavy goods vehicles with a MGW of over 7.5 t and heavy goods vehicles with a MGW of over 3.5 t with a trailer or semi-trailer. The bans are valid on:

1 May from 0:00 to 22:00.

Slovenia

Trucks and vehicle combinations with a MGW of over 7.5 t cannot travel on Slovenian roads on Sundays, public holidays and non-working days. The ban applies on:

27 April from 8:00 to 21:00,

1 and 2 May – from 8:00 to 21:00.

Hungary

Trucks, tractors with trailers with a MGW above 7.5 t are forbidden to move on Hungarian roads:

30 April from 22:00 to 24:00,

1 May from 0:00 to 22:00.

Italy

In Italy, the traffic ban covers heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations a MGW of more than 7.5 tonnes.

–  25 April from 9:00 to 22:00,

1 May from 9:00 to 22:00.
