The surcharge will take effect on 15th September 2024 and remain in place until further notice.

The PSS will apply to all cargo shipped from the specified origin regions to a wide range of European destinations, including North Europe, the Baltic states, Scandinavia, the UK, the West and East Mediterranean, the Adriatic, Morocco, North Africa, and the Black Sea.

CMA CGM has set the surcharge at USD 400 per container, which will be payable alongside freight charges. The surcharge comes in response to heightened demand during the peak shipping season, a period when global supply chains often face increased pressure.

The company has not indicated an end date for the surcharge, signalling that it will remain in effect depending on market conditions.
