The company aims to reduce CO₂ emissions in land transport and address the growing demand for environmentally conscious logistics solutions. The electric trucks also operate more quietly than diesel alternatives, making them particularly suitable for urban areas.

The addition of the Volvo FM Electric trucks marks the first time DB Schenker will use electric vehicles with trailer capabilities for last-mile deliveries in Germany. This development allows the company to replace diesel vehicles in similar roles, increasing the potential for electric applications across its operations.

The Volvo FM Electric offers up to 490 kW of power and supports flexible charging options. A full charge takes approximately 9.5 hours using alternating current or 2.5 hours with direct current, providing operational efficiency and reduced downtime. The trucks’ trailer capability and range make them suitable for various tasks in DB Schenker’s groupage network.

Drivers have noted the benefits of the vehicles’ spacious cabins, ergonomic designs, and safety features, which enhance comfort and contribute to a more secure working environment.

DB Schenker continues to invest in reducing emissions across its land, air, and sea freight operations. The deployment of electric trucks aligns with the company’s broader strategy to support environmentally sustainable supply chains and meet the requirements of customers seeking lower-emission transport options. The quieter and emission-free operation of the trucks also positions them as a practical choice for densely populated areas.
