At the turn of the year, the price of Deutsche Post’s subsidiary express logistics services will increase by several percent. The increases apply both to the foreign and German markets.

DHL Express will increase prices for most customers in Germany by an average of 4.9% from next year. Depending on the weight, volume and country of destination, the annual price correction may be even higher, the company announced last Friday. Increases apply to domestic and international express shipments. The logistics service provider also announced an increase in prices for business customers on individual terms.

Markus Reckling, Managing Director of DHL Express Germany, justified the announced increases with investments in the national and international network.

In Germany alone, we will invest around €200 million by the end of 2020 as part of an ongoing infrastructure programme,” explained Reckling, quoted in the company’s press release.

The company also explains that the increases are due to higher inflation, exchange rate dynamics and differences in administrative costs related to new legal regulations and security requirements.
