In a statement on 4 September, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) confirmed it had cleared Evri’s acquisition of DHL eCommerce UK, alongside DHL Group’s purchase of a minority stake in Evri. The regulator said the full text of its decision would be published shortly.

The deal, first announced in May 2025, will bring together two major players handling more than 1 billion parcels and business letters each year. Evri, backed by Apollo-managed funds, will integrate DHL eCommerce UK’s network into its operations, while DHL’s UK mail service will be absorbed, marking Evri’s entry into the business mail market.

Under the agreement, DHL’s premium delivery service will be rebranded as Evri Premium, a network of DHL eCommerce, with Stu Hill, CEO of DHL eCommerce UK, becoming managing director of the newly branded network. Evri CEO Martijn de Lange will lead the combined business.

Together, the companies will employ around 12,000 staff and 30,000 couriers and van drivers, operating a fleet of 8,000 vehicles. Customers will also gain access to a joint out-of-home network of 15,000 UK parcel shops and lockers, as well as DHL eCommerce’s global infrastructure across Europe, the US and parts of Asia.

The CMA launched its inquiry into the transaction in July, with a deadline of 25 September to decide whether to escalate the case to an in-depth Phase 2 investigation. Its clearance concludes the process at Phase 1, allowing the merger to proceed.
