InPost Group has announced a strategic investment in Portuguese company Bloq.it, a provider of next-generation parcel locker solutions. The agreement covers not only the acquisition of a minority stake but, above all, the installation of more than 20,000 battery-powered NEXT machines across Europe over the next five years.

The first lockers have already been deployed in France and the UK. By the end of the year, InPost plans to roll them out in Italy, Portugal, and Spain as well.

Revolution in infrastructure

The new NEXT parcel lockers are an off-grid solution powered by batteries that last 6 to 12 months, with a service life of up to ten years. This makes it possible to install machines in locations that were previously inaccessible due to infrastructure constraints.

“A strategic investment in Bloq.it is a real game changer for our European expansion. It enables us to deploy machines in locations that were previously unavailable and will have a positive impact on the Group’s growth dynamics and long-term profitability,” said Rafał Brzoska, InPost founder and CEO.

At the same time, Miha Jagodic, CEO of Bloq.it, noted that the partnership will accelerate the development of out-of-home delivery across Europe, giving consumers greater flexibility in receiving parcels.

Supporting network development

Under the agreement, Bloq.it will be responsible for the full service of NEXT lockers – from delivery and network management to technical support. This forms part of InPost’s wider strategy to further densify its parcel collection network, increase profitability, and reinforce its position as a key player in European e-commerce logistics.

Expansion on multiple fronts

By the end of 2025, InPost Group plans to expand its network by more than 14,000 new APMs (Automated Parcel Machines). Next year alone, this will include:

  • around 3,000 machines in Poland,
  • 4,000 in France and the Benelux countries,
  • 4,500 in the UK,
  • 2,000 on the Iberian Peninsula,
  • and about 1,000 in Italy.

At present, InPost operates more than 88,600 OOH (Out-Of-Home delivery) points in nine European countries, including over 54,300 Paczkomat parcel lockers.
