The parcel delivery firm, which currently operates more than 10,000 ParcelShops and lockers, announced the expansion on 30 June as part of a five-year growth strategy aimed at increasing delivery options and supporting rising demand for locker use.
According to the company, locker usage has grown by 500% year-on-year, and the new units will include features such as 24/7 access, label printers, drop boxes, parcel detection sensors, and geo-based contactless operation. Customers will also be able to check availability before making a journey, using a pre-arrival capacity indicator.
Evri plans to reach 2,000 locker locations before Christmas 2025. The new lockers will be offered alongside existing delivery options such as home, workplace, ParcelShops, and safe place diversions. Retailers will be able to include lockers at the checkout stage of the online shopping process.
“The investment will establish one of the UK’s largest pick up, drop off networks,” said Martijn de Lange, CEO of Evri. “Our expanding network of locations is shaping the future of parcel delivery in the UK with smart technology and greater accessibility.”
The announcement follows Evri’s recent acquisition of Coll-8, an Irish customs clearance and logistics firm, and comes ahead of its proposed merger with DHL eCommerce UK. Pending regulatory approval, the merged company is expected to handle over 1 billion parcels and 1 billion business letters annually.
Evri currently delivers around 900 million parcels a year and operates with more than 8,000 employees, 25,000 couriers, and a growing network of depots and hubs.
Parcel locker competition intensifies in the UK
The UK’s parcel locker sector is seeing rapid expansion, with rival operator InPost also strengthening its position. In April 2025, InPost acquired Yodel, one of the country’s largest delivery companies, forming a single brand offering both home and locker delivery.
InPost already operates over 10,000 parcel lockers and a total of 18,000 out-of-home delivery points in the UK. The acquisition is expected to raise its UK parcel volume to approximately 300 million annually, with a projected market share of 8%. In 2024 alone, InPost more than doubled its UK deliveries to 93.2 million parcels.
The move follows InPost’s earlier takeover of Menzies Distribution in October 2024, giving the company full control over its logistics operations across the country.
DPD UK is also expanding its locker network, announcing in April a partnership with YEEP! to install 8,000 new battery-powered parcel lockers over five years. These will supplement DPD’s existing 12,000 Pickup shops and lockers and are designed to operate as open-network infrastructure.
