Geely-owned Farizon has produced a European-specification version of its Homtruck electric tractor, claiming a 500 km range from a 600 kWh battery. The figures place it close to the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 on paper, but Farizon has yet to disclose when or where European sales will begin – and whether 50 trucks previously planned for German operator Duvenbeck have been delivered.
Farizon presented the vehicle as its 600,000th new-energy commercial vehicle, produced during an event marking the Chinese manufacturer’s tenth anniversary at its Ma’anshan plant.
According to Farizon’s announcement, the milestone Homtruck has been configured to meet EU regulations and European fleet requirements.
The electric tractor is equipped with a 600 kWh battery, for which Farizon claims a range of 500 kilometres, as well as two fast-charging ports. The manufacturer also quotes a B10 design life of 1.5 million kilometres – meaning a design target under which 90% of vehicles or specified components should remain operational at that mileage.
However, Farizon has not disclosed several figures that European operators would need to assess the truck properly. These include its usable battery capacity, charging power, battery chemistry, unladen weight, payload and the conditions under which the 500 km range was calculated.
Close to the eActros 600 on paper
The headline figures make the Homtruck a potential rival to established European electric tractors, particularly the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600.
The eActros carries three battery packs with a combined installed capacity of 621 kWh and also offers a claimed range of 500 km. Unlike Farizon, Mercedes-Benz specifies that its range figure was calculated with a 40-tonne combination under defined long-haul test conditions.
The Mercedes model is designed for a gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes and provides a payload of approximately 22 tonnes with a standard semitrailer. Its series production began in late 2024, and vehicles are already working in European fleets. Daimler Truck says the vehicle is designed to cover up to 1.2 million kilometres over ten years, after which its LFP batteries should retain more than 80% of their original capacity.
Volvo’s current FH Electric, meanwhile, offers up to 470 km of range with as much as 540 kWh of installed battery capacity. Its extended-range FH Aero Electric can carry up to 780 kWh and cover as much as 700 km, according to Volvo Trucks.
The comparison therefore demonstrates the Homtruck’s intended market position, but not necessarily its real-world competitiveness. Its payload, energy consumption, charging time and purchase price remain unknown.
European launch remains unclear
Farizon says the European Homtruck is “coming soon”, but has not named an introductory market or provided a launch date, pricing, homologation confirmation or details of its European sales and maintenance network.
That absence is particularly notable because Farizon and German logistics company Duvenbeck announced a European partnership at the IAA Transportation exhibition in September 2024.
At the time, Duvenbeck said that delivery of the first 50 Homtrucks was planned for 2025. The logistics company was also expected to become Farizon’s preferred European logistics partner and support the manufacturer’s expansion.
Neither company appears to have subsequently confirmed publicly whether those 50 vehicles were delivered or when they might enter operation.

Geely provides considerable backing
Farizon is not an independent start-up. It belongs to Zhejiang Geely Holding, the automotive group that controls Volvo Cars and owns or co-owns brands including Polestar, Lotus and Smart.
Geely-related interests also hold substantial stakes in established European manufacturers. Geely Holding is a major shareholder in truck manufacturer AB Volvo, while Geely founder Li Shufu holds a 9.69% interest in Mercedes-Benz Group.
That backing gives Farizon access to considerable financial, engineering and manufacturing resources. Nevertheless, European operators will judge the Homtruck on more than battery size and range.
Purchase price and total cost of ownership could help Chinese electric trucks attract customers, but uptime, payload, residual value, financing, parts availability and access to a dependable service network are likely to be equally important.
Until Farizon publishes those details – and explains what happened to the Duvenbeck deployment – the European Homtruck remains a credible challenger on paper rather than a proven competitor on European roads.
