According to France Blue, 13% of the region’s petrol stations have run dry amid uncertainty over fuel supplies caused by pension reform strikes that have impacted refineries and fuel deliveries.

As a result of the this, the local authorities in Vaucluse have introduced limits on the sale of fuel. Motorists can top with a maximum of 30 litres per car (petrol, diesel, ethanol, LPG), while trucks over 3.5 tons will be limited to 120 litres.

The limits are to remain in force until 10am on Thursday.

Public service vehicles or companies carrying out a public service activities shall be exempt from the limits.

In addition, filling up jerry cans and other containers has been temporarily banned.

Motorists have been urged not to panic buy by the authorities in the region as it will only exacerbate the fuel shortage problem.
