In its announcement, GEODIS said that under the terms of its certificate from energy supplier EWII, valid from 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2025, GEODIS Denmark will purchase its entire electricity consumption as renewable electricity.

EWII claims it can ensure that 100% of the electricity consumption comes from sources such as wind turbines, solar panels, hydroelectric power, and biomass.

In line with its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, GEODIS Denmark says it has also changed all lighting to LED and bought new energy-efficient computer screens. In addition, the company offers four charging points for electric vehicles at each of its branches in Kastrup and Vejle, and is planning to expand this later this year.

Commenting on the announcement, Kent Husted, Managing Director of GEODIS Denmark, said:

“When we started the process, we were looking for a more low-carbon alternative to what we had before. We chose EWII and now our electricity is 100% renewable. This means we have reduced our CO2 footprint by almost 40 tons per year. We are very proud to support this very necessary and important initiative and to have taken a significant leap towards reaching our target.”

Thomas Kraus, Regional President & CEO of GEODIS EUROPE, added:

“As a company and as an employer, GEODIS places social issues at the heart of its concerns. One of our seven Golden Rules that form the basis of our operations, is “Be a good citizen”. This underlines our efforts to focus on developing low-carbon solutions, reducing the impact of our activities on the environment and continuously improving the health, safety and well-being of our employees. The EWII certificate is an important step on our journey towards developing environmentally friendly solutions for all our stakeholders.”
