In November, GEODIS, the global logistics service provider, inaugurated a new 700 square meter temperature-controlled facility with an integrated cooling area in Rodgau.

According to an official company annoncement, this strategic move aligns with GEODIS’s commitment to enhance and fortify its worldwide pharmaceutical network. The Pharma Cross Dock, equipped with a temperature-controlled warehouse ranging between 15 and 25 °C and an additional cooling area maintaining a temperature range of 2 to 8 °C, provides ideal conditions for the handling and temporary storage of pharmaceutical products. This facility ensures a seamless cooling process throughout the entire transportation and logistics chain, benefitting from its direct connection to the A45 motorway and proximity to Frankfurt Airport for enhanced accessibility.

Given the critical nature of transporting vaccines and pharmaceuticals, the new facility prioritizes swift handling and a consistently temperature-controlled environment. Rodgau, along with the CEIV certification of the Frankfurt site, offers GDP-compliant solutions, reinforcing quality assurance in pharmaceutical distribution. This development is a pivotal component of GEODIS’s global expansion strategy to strengthen its 27 CEIV-certified air freight locations.

Antje Lochmann, Managing Director Germany, emphasizes the significance of this investment, stating, „In addition to the strategic acquisition of transport specialist trans-o-flex at the beginning of the year, Rodgau is now our first Pharma Cross Dock in Germany to go into active operation. With this investment, we are creating an important basis for our further positioning in the German market, considered Europe’s most important exporter of pharmaceuticals, and significantly strengthening our portfolio for sensitive and fast air freight in pharmaceutical logistics.
