In June this year, the governmental wage commission proposed new rates. The German government approved them last week. This is important information for carriers delegating drivers in the territory of this country.
According to the commission proposal, the statutory minimum wage in Germany will increase in 2019 and in 2020. MiLoG, or the German Minimum Wage Act, has been in force since January 1, 2015.
At that time, the statutory minimum was EUR 8.5 per hour (gross). In January 2017, the rate was raised to 8.84 euros.
Two increases
The minimum wage commission, consisting of representatives of trade unions, employers, chairman, and unauthorized scientists, proposed a two-stage increase.
According to its recommendations, which the government approved at the end of October, the minimum wage will increase from January next year to 9.19 euros per hour, and at the beginning of 2020 will reach 9.35 euros.
With a 40-hour working week, the first increase will mean that the salary will be higher by 55 euros (gross).
