In the coming weeks, the A1 near Unna, close to Dortmund, will be closed on three separate weekends for work on two bridges.
During these closures, structural elements of the Liedbachtal Bridge will be demolished using explosives. Additionally, the large railway bridge over the A1 near Unna will be dismantled and replaced with a new structure.
Closure schedule and detours:
- Sunday, 17 November:
The A1 between the Dortmund/Unna and Westhofen motorway junctions will be closed in both directions from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. due to demolition works. Traffic will be diverted via the A2 (Oberhausen/Hannover) and A45 (Dortmund/Lüdenscheid) motorways. - Friday, 29 November – Monday, 2 December:
Starting at 10:00 p.m. on 29 November, the A1 will be closed in both directions between the Kamen-Zentrum junction and the Dortmund/Unna junction.
On Sunday, 1 December, from 8:00 a.m., this closure will extend further north to the Kamen junction and south to the Westhofen junction. The motorway is expected to fully reopen on Monday, 2 December, at 5:00 a.m. - Friday, 6 December – Monday, 9 December:
The A1 will again close in both directions from the Kamen-Zentrum junction to the Dortmund/Unna junction. The closure begins at 10:00 p.m. on 6 December and will last until 5:00 a.m. on 9 December.
In both directions, detours will be implemented via the A45 and A2 motorways. Additional routes are in place for drivers traveling to Schwerte:
- Northbound: Traffic will follow the U71 detour from the A45 Schwerte-Ergste junction.
- Southbound: Traffic will be diverted from the Dortmund/Unna junction via the B1 and B236.
