Danish police officers have seized a German truck and taken its driver’s driving licence after spotting that the vehicle’s tachograph had been manipulated.

The truck attracted the attention of the police after a resident of the Danish town Koge complained abouts its engine being switched on almost all-day-long on Sunday. The lady had asked the driver to switch off the engine, but he refused to do so. The lady then called the police.

Not long after the police arrived at the scene, they spotted that the tachograph of the vehicle had been manipulated so that it could record rest time when the driver was driving.

After further investigation, the police were able to confirm that the truck’s tachograph had been manipulated several times. The investigation also showed that the truck’s pollution control equipment was defective and had been for a very long time.

What’s more, when the officers checked the driver’s belongings, they found a remote control that could be used to manipulate the tachograph and also two driver’s licenses attached to the same driver.

Consequently, the police seized the truck and took the driver’s licenses. As the investigation hasn’t been closed, the amount of the fine is not yet known.
