A report by the FT’s Ivan Levingston has stated that according to “people familiar with the matter”, Getir are in talks to acquire rival company Flink.

Although the report says the talks are ongoing, sources told the FT that “there is no guarantee of an agreement being reached”.

It is well reported that the express food delivery sector has been suffering woes since the pandemic boom period. A number of companies operating in the sector have either been acquired of have ceased trading for good.

Just 5 months ago, Getir acquired Gorillas, who, like Flink, also operated on the German market.

Flink is currently loss making, and in December 2022, the company’s Austrian subsidiary was declared bankrupt.

However, Flink is said to be hopeful of turning the corner before the end of his year.
