Dutch transport and logistics company Heisterkamp Transportation Solutions is extending its Eastern European footprint with the opening of a new facility in Moldova. The site will focus on logistics operations and data analysis – marking the company’s first presence in the country.

Founded in 1919, the family-owned Heisterkamp Transportation Solutions operates a fleet of more than 800 trucks and 9,000 trailers, employs over 1,300 people, and has offices in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Latvia, and Romania. Its business model combines road transport, vehicle leasing, maintenance and repair, and digital logistics solutions.

Heisterkamp says the latest expansion to Moldova reflects its strategy to strengthen efficiency and digital capabilities across its European network.

According to Country Manager Vincent van der Graaff, the move is designed to build on Moldova’s growing reputation for “talent and innovation” and to support the company’s long-term growth.

Why Moldova?

Moldova has been positioning itself as a regional hub for business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology services. Companies operating within the Moldova Innovation Technology Park benefit from a 7% flat tax on turnover, state guarantees until 2035, and an IT Visa scheme to attract foreign specialists.

The park operates on a “virtual” principle, allowing companies to manage operations remotely, an arrangement that appeals to logistics operators seeking flexible and cost-efficient support structures for data and digital functions.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, exports of BPO services grew from $62 million in 2010 to $268 million in 2024, with a 13% increase last year alone.

The new site will create roles in data analysis and logistics support, contributing to Heisterkamp’s wider goal of integrating digital expertise into its transport operations. The company expects the facility to help optimise fleet management, route planning, and customer service across Europe.
