This acquisition follows Heppner’s earlier expansions in the region, with the purchase of HaCas in the Netherlands in 2017 and DINA in Belgium in 2021.

Founded in 1974, Segers Internationaal Transport specialises in import-export operations between the Netherlands and Spain. The company, based in Oosterhout, employs approximately 30 people and reported a turnover of €24 million in 2023. It operates a 14,000 m² warehouse located strategically between the major European ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, and only 12 km from Heppner’s existing site in Gilze.

Approximately 70% of Segers’ business is focused on trade between the Netherlands and Spain. Heppner, which is known for its expertise in European transport and logistics solutions, expects the integration of Segers to bolster its operational capacity and territorial coverage in Northern Europe.

“The acquisition of Segers Internationaal Transport and its integration into our network allows us to densify our territorial coverage and extend our operational capacities in the Netherlands. This new location will enable us to offer even more efficient and reliable solutions to our customers for their international flows and for their local distribution needs. It demonstrates the growing internationalisation of our company,” says Jean-Thomas Schmitt, Chairman and CEO of the Heppner Group.

Ludwig Segers, shareholder of Segers Internationaal Transport, expressed satisfaction with the move, stating that joining Heppner would enable Segers to “accelerate its growth and develop in a more global market.”
