HIVED, a UK-based parcel delivery company operating an all-electric fleet, has ordered a fleet of eActros trucks from Mercedes-Benz Trucks to expand its middle-mile operations. The move is part of the company’s strategy to scale its nationwide, fully electric parcel delivery network.
According to HIVED, the newly acquired vehicles will be deployed across its middle-mile operations, transporting parcels from retailer warehouses to distribution hubs before final delivery to customers. The company has sourced the trucks through Mercedes-Benz Dealer partner, Motus Truck & Van.
To support the expansion, HIVED plans to invest in charging infrastructure, including the installation of high-powered chargers at its hubs in West London, the Midlands, and Manchester. The company states that these chargers will allow electric heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to charge rapidly, improving operational efficiency.
“HIVED’s rapid growth in the UK is extremely impressive, so we are delighted to be the chosen partner for their first eHGVs,” said Stuart Jeggo, Sales & Marketing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited. “I look forward to seeing the first vehicles delivered and out on the road later this year.”
James Venables, Head of Future Sustainability at Daimler Truck UK Limited, highlighted the environmental benefits of the expansion:
“HIVED’s commitment to an all-electric delivery service is a great example of how switching to electric trucks can improve sustainability, particularly in the delivery sector.”
Mathias Krieger, HIVED’s Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, described the company’s fleet strategy as a step towards modernising the logistics sector.
“In an industry where the status quo is to run a mixed fleet at best, HIVED is the first delivery company to operate an all-electric delivery network across the middle and final delivery mile,” he said.
