Xbox 360 console allows you to connect it to the sound system. You can easily connect your console with the sound system by using a suitable audio cable. Different sound systems and Xbox consoles require a specific audio cable to make the connection. Following audio cables can be used to connect the Xbox console to the sound system.

To connect the original Xbox 360 console:

You can use a digital (TOSLINK or S/PDIF) audio cable and HDMI audio adapter. Alternatively, a standard audio cable with HDMI audio adapter.

To connect Xbox 360 E console:

Although with a standard audio cable, you can connect your console or your TV directly to the sound system. But, the cable requirement may vary with the manufacturer. You can check the manual guide of your TV to know about it.

To connect the Xbox 360 S console:

Xbox 360 S has an inbuilt S/PDIF audio port to connect to the digital audio cable. Therefore you can use a digital (TOSLINK or S/PDIF) audio cable. Or, a standard audio cable with HDMI audio adapter.

How to connect the original Xbox 360 console to a sound system

You can connect the Xbox 360 console to the sound system when it is either connected to the TV with HDMI cable or A/V cable. So, it does not matter how the console is connected to the TV; you can easily join a sound system.

When the Xbox is connected to the TV through an HDMI cable:

1.    Put the HDMI audio adapter into the A/V port of the console.

2.    Then insert the one side of the digital audio cable into the audio adapter.

3.    And, the other side of the audio cable into the audio input port of the receiver.

  When the Xbox is connected to the TV through an A/V cable:

1.    Disconnect the audio connectors from the TV or monitor.

2.    Then insert the one side of the digital audio cable into the TOSLINK port of A/V cable.

3.    And, the other side of the audio cable into the audio input port of the receiver.

How to connect Xbox 360 E console to a sound system

If you want to get the stereo sound from your Xbox 360 E console, then you need to add a sound system to the connected display or TV.

1.    Take a standard stereo audio cable your TV supports or recommended by the manufacturer.

2.    Insert the one side of the audio cable into the output port of the display or TV.

3.    And, the other side of the audio cable into the audio input port of the receiver.

How to connect Xbox 360 S console to a sound system

Here is the guide to connect the Xbox 360 S console to the sound system with a digital audio cable.

When the Xbox is connected to the TV through an HDMI cable:

1.    Without removing the connected HDMI cable.

2.    Insert the one side of the digital audio cable into the S/PDIF port of the console.

3.    And, the other side of the audio cable into the audio input port of the receiver.

When the Xbox is connected to the TV through an A/V cable:

1.    Without removing the connect HDMI cable.

2.    Disconnect the audio connectors from the TV or monitor.

3.    Then insert the one side of the digital audio cable into the S/PDIF port of the console.

4.    And, the other side of the audio cable into the audio input port of the receiver.

Guide to connect the Xbox console to a sound system with a standard audio cable

With a standard stereo audio cable, you can connect any Xbox console to a sound system easily. Here’s how.

1.    Put the HDMI audio adapter into the A/V port of the console.

2.    Now, insert the color connectors of the audio cable into the same color ports of the audio adapter.

3.    And the other side of the audio cable into the audio port of the receiver.
