An Italian road transport company has been issued a fine of €9,000 euros for illegal cabotage tasks, and its offending vehicle has been taken off the road for 3 months. The reason for the severe fine was the lack of a registration in the Italian registry. The very same day and place, another two lorry drivers were also fined €3,000 for illegal cabotage and breaking drivers’ hours’ regulations.

Last week, traffic police officers in Italy checked an articulated lorry of a Lazio-based road haulage company that was hired by another company. However, the company was not registered in the National Register of Road Haulers for 3rd party operations. Therefore, a fine of almost €9,000 was issued for illegal road haulage and the vehicle was ordered off the road for three months, reports Trasporti-Italia.

During the very same daily inspections, the police also issued a fine of almost €3,000 to two Ukrainian drivers for breaking drivers’ hours’ regulations and carrying out cabotage operations in Italy without contacting the Labour Office. The vehicle was seized until the penalties were paid.

Moreover, on the same day, a police patrol checked an articulated lorry of a Venetian company at the Portogruaro motorway barrier. The police officers, observing the AdBlue additive tank, suspected that the device was not operating. After a closer look at a local garage, the total inefficiency of the device was discovered. The driver and the company were therefore administratively sanctioned and a further detailed inspection was ordered.
