The American truck manufacturer Kenworth presented a new model of its flagship truck. The W990 version will please all fans of the brand – its appearance refers to the first models of the series produced continuously since 1961. Although it has a traditional design on the outside, the inside of the truck offers modern amenities.
The new model was presented in Las Vegas during the Motor Speedway Show. As announced by the manufacturer, it just doesn’t get any better than this.

When it’s in the fleet, it helps drivers feel special. It also helps customers use it as something to attract drivers who might otherwise look at other options,” said Mike Dozier, the general manager of the Kenworth truck brand.
Powering the Kenworth W990 are the high quality and reliability of the PACCAR MX engines. The 12.9-liter PACCAR MX-13 engine is designed to meet the demands of heavy-duty truck applications — delivering the increased horsepower and torque needed to move large payloads with ease, even on steep grades.
Return to tradition
The goal was to design a truck that combines the legacy of the first Kenworth W900 and the latest technology. Let us remind you that the older version (see picture below) has been mass-produced since 1961. It was this model that made Kenworth a brand that is recognizable around the world. W990 is to refer to its predecessor.
We decided to design a truck that will bring memories to mind. A car that other drivers will look at with buttery eyes and nod their heads with admiration. A model that will be proudly presented at all truck shows – says Jonathan Duncan, Kenworth project director.
The creators have kept the traditional shape of the grill and a long mask to give the new truck a refined, tailor-made look.
“It’s elegant, beautiful and full of strength,” Duncan added.

Almost like home
The W990 interior will be available in two versions: basic and premium, i.e. in the so-called Driver Studio package. The latter option is to provide the driver with a luxury home on wheels.

The Driver’s Studio package will include, among others, a rotating passenger seat, a rotating table for two, a fridge and space to mount additional devices such as microwaves. The company made sure that the trucker did not get bored during the pause. Thanks to the expanded version of the audio, the driver has a 320-watt amplifier, a 10-inch subwoofer, and eight loudspeakers. In addition, a 28-inch flat-screen TV was installed in the bedroom part next to a full-size cabinet.
