According to Chronopost, leboncoin has become the most visited French website, making its second hand items a first choice. 111 million goods were exchanged via the platform in 2022, and there are more than 67 million classified ads currently on leboncoin.
“From the biggest online flea market in France, today leboncoin has become an online retail leader. Teaming up with Chronopost, a major player in deliveries, was obviously the logical next step in ourtransformation, with the goal of making it easier to access the circular economy and having a beneficial impact on purchasing power and the environment,” said Amandine de Souza – Managing Director of leboncoin, commenting on the announcement.
Benoît Frette, Chairman of Chronopost, added:
“We are delighted to be signing this partnership agreement. Using our network and expertise to develop the circular economy makes a lot of sense. Working to develop more responsible alternatives throughout France is another step in Chronopost’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint.”
Chronopost says that for each of the last five years, the volume of second-hand purchases has spiked in the third quarter. It says the French are turning to second-hand items more and more frequently for their gifts, for both environmental and price reasons.
With 20% of online sales passing through leboncoin, Chronopost believes this partnership meets a concrete need for transactions throughout France.
