According to reports in France, a lorry driver has been found dead in his cab with stab wounds near a tollbooth on the A9 for access in and out of the city of Nimes.

Info Objective Gard writes that the tragedy was discovered by officers after the police had been contacted about a bad smell emanating from the cabin of a truck parked on Rue Rudolf Diesel in Nimes.

The police had also been informed about the driver, from Ukraine, going missing as his whereabouts were unknown for at least two days.

The driver’s decomposing body had several stab wounds, immediately prompting the opening of a homicide investigation. Officers reportedly inspected the area around the lorry for clues yesterday evening.

The truck was parked near a Total Energies petrol station roughly 100 metres from the closest motorway toll booth.
