Type “Which drivers need to improve their driving style?” into the new Digital Fleet Assistant, and it responds with names, data, and recommendations—no spreadsheet required. The AI-powered tool, launching across Europe after trials in Austria, analyses fuel consumption, driver behaviour, and vehicle wear three times faster than manual methods, turning what used to be an afternoon’s work into a 30-second chat.
The Digital Fleet Assistant is the latest addition to the Perform service available on the RIO platform. After a successful debut in Austria this spring, the tool is now available to customers in Germany and will be rolled out in other European markets in the coming months.
Intelligent support for fleets
The new Perform module collects and analyses data on driving style, fuel consumption, use of assist systems, as well as downtime and vehicle wear and tear. It is complemented by a comprehensive knowledge base that includes training materials, instructions, and practical tips.
The most significant innovation is the chat integrated with the system. The fleet manager can ask a question in plain language – e.g., “Which drivers need to improve their driving style?” – and the assistant will immediately provide a clear analysis with ready recommendations.
Imagine a personal assistant that simplifies everyday life and transforms it in the way artificial intelligence is revolutionising travel planning or online shopping. An assistant that saves time and money while offering new solutions. This is exactly the added value we are now bringing to fleet management with the Digital Fleet Assistant,” explains Karl-Maximilian Strobel, Director of Product Management at MAN Truck & Bus.
Analysis three times faster
Until now, analysing fleet data required time and effort. The new assistant speeds up this process by up to three times. This means managers receive reports more quickly and can immediately make decisions – for instance, on reducing fuel consumption, cutting service costs, or improving driving smoothness.
Direct, practical recommendations ensure that data stops being just numbers – it becomes a tool for real savings and enhancing the overall efficiency of the fleet.
Perform in a new version
The digital assistant is an enhancement of the well-known Perform service, which has already enjoyed considerable popularity among MAN customers. The platform provides almost real-time information on vehicle utilisation, driving styles, and fleet operating conditions.
Importantly, drivers also have access to their own performance scores through the MAN Driver App. They can continuously check their driving parameters and independently work on a more economical driving style.
Real benefits for the industry
Thanks to artificial intelligence, fleet management becomes more transparent, faster, and result-oriented. This tool simplifies daily work for transport operators and simultaneously provides drivers with tools for self-improvement.
The new MAN assistant shows how technology can become a practical ally in the quest for lower costs, improved efficiency, and more sustainable transport.
