The paper, the details of which shall be presented by Marco Melacini, Damiano Frosi and Emilio Moretti, touches on a number of pressing road transport issues, including contracts, planning, visibility, digitalisation, technology and procurement.
The results of the research shall then be discussed by an expert panel featuring representatives from the likes of ABB e-mobility, CEVA Logistics, DHL Supply Chain Italy, GEODIS, and Poste Italiane.
Some of the key questions the event aims to answer are as follows:
• How much is the Contract Logistics market worth in Italy?
• How have the strategies of the main logistics operators changed in terms of purchasing choices and investment policies?
• What are the possible common work areas between clients and suppliers in light of the sudden changes of recent times?
• What are the 4.0 solutions emerging in the sector and what are the factors that enable their adoption?
• How is logistics construction changing? How do warehouse location and design choices evolve?
• What opportunities in the logistics sector amid the implementation of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan?
“Logistics, recently recognized as strategic worldwide, is facing relevant challenges related to sustainability. These challenges encourage a further evolution of this sector. We witness a significant growth of input costs, operational capacity shortage issues, both in the transport and the warehouse sector, important changes in the global context, and the related concerns for international supply chains,” say the organisers of the event.
The organisers add:
“In this context, the Conference aims to highlight the major trends regarding the logistics sector and the strategies that can be implemented to face the ongoing challenges. In particular, we will discuss about: market trends; client-provider relationship innovation, with a specific focus on the transport sector; Logistics 4.0 solutions; the major trends concerning the Logistics Real Estate sector; the opportunities related to the implementation of the Italian Recovery Plan and to tender management innovation. The presentation will be enriched by speeches from managers of top-level logistics companies.”
The Conference will take place on the 16th of November from 8.30 am until 5 pm, at Mico–Fiera Milano. Participation is free of charge.
Those who do wish to participate should register first and can do so here.
Persons who cannot be there on the day can also still register to receive an email with details of the live-streaming video coverage of the conference. Further details are available on the event’s website.
