As the demand for haulage services increases, so does the need for safe and secure lorry parks for drivers to rest and park their vehicles.
Fortunately, Denmark is set to add 163 new parking spaces for lorries in 2023. The project is a joint effort between the Danish Road Directorate and the Municipality of Kolding, and it’s expected to ease the burden on the existing lorry parks, which are often overburdened with vehicles. This is leading to drivers having to park on the roadside, which is a safety hazard.
A new facility will be situated near the E45 motorway, the main artery for goods transport in Denmark, and will provide a safe and secure environment for drivers to park their vehicles and rest, with modern facilities for showers and restrooms. The lorry park will be open 24/7 and will be equipped with surveillance cameras.
The new lorry park’s location near the E45 will also enable drivers to easily access nearby motorways, minimizing time spent searching for parking and ensuring that they can continue their journeys in a timely and safe manner.
In addition to the lorry park on the E45, other HGV parking areas on the E45, E20 and E55 are due to be extended with additional HGV parking spaces.
