Police seize 3,000 litres of spirits from overloaded van with burst tyres

French road police have seized 3,000 litres of strong alcohol that had been crammed into a van moving on the A4 motorway. The overloaded vehicle suffered 3 burst tyres due to weight of the booze in the back.

The total weight of the load, including the bottles, cartons and packaging, was some 5.5 tonnes.

According to the police, officers spent 3 hours unloading the vehicle. The value of the goods is estimated to be approximately 75,000 euros.

The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody and will be summoned to court.
