Renault Trucks pushes electric long-haul range to 660 km

Renault Trucks has raised the published range figure for its flagship E-Tech T 780 electric tractor to up to 660 km, putting the model deeper into long-haul territory and sharpening the fight for battery-electric freight beyond regional work.

The new figure appears in Renault Trucks’ latest Dutch-market material, which now lists the E-Tech T 780 with 660 km of range, up to 27.5 tonnes of payload, charging capability of up to 700 kW, and a battery performance commitment of 8 years or 1.2 million km.

The same specification table gives the payload-focused E-Tech T 585 a range of 500 km, payload of up to 24 tonnes, and charging capability of up to 700 kW.

The figures represent a clear step up from Renault Trucks’ earlier announcement in November 2025, which listed the E-Tech T 780 at 600 km and the E-Tech T 585 at 460 km. In that launch announcement, Renault Trucks said the T 780 carried 780 kWh of battery capacity, while the T 585 carried 585 kWh.

The company has also linked the new long-range E-Tech T versions to megawatt charging. Renault Trucks’ November announcement said the E-Tech T 585 and T 780 were compatible with Megawatt Charging System stations up to 720 kW, allowing up to 350 km of range to be added during a 45-minute driver break.

The update is not only about the T 780. The E-Tech T 585 also moves into more useful territory, with the latest Dutch specification showing 500 km rather than the earlier 460 km figure.

That makes the T 585 the more practical compromise for operators that need a stronger payload position while still wanting enough range for substantial regional or national work. In Renault Trucks’ original positioning, the T 780 was the range-focused model, while the T 585 was designed for operators wanting higher payload.

Both versions use an electric axle, with the motors and transmission grouped at the rear of the vehicle. Renault Trucks says this frees up space in the chassis for additional battery packs.

Renault Trucks has said the E-Tech T 585 and T 780 will be produced at Bourg-en-Bresse in France, where its heavy-duty electric range has been assembled since late 2023. The company’s broader electromobility page also describes 2026 as the start of serial production for the T 585 and T 780.
