Goldfish, green plants, shells and sparkling water – a pothole in one of the roads in Mönchengladbach, Germany has been transformed by a local artist into a miniature pond. Beauty can be extracted from everything. It was a close call and her work would disappear under an asphalt patch.

The most beautiful pothole on the road in the country would have been filled with asphalt, if not for the driver who prevented the workers from doing their job – reports the German transport portal verkehrsrundschau.de. – We were already there and we were supposed to fill the hole, but then the driver parked his car over it – said the spokeswoman of the City Road Administration of the German press agency dpa.

A miniature pond like in a fairy tale was created by a 33-year-old artist from Mönchengladbach. The edges of the pothole were painted, and its interior is decorated with shells, pebbles, small plants, goldfish and water shimmering in the sun with flecks of glitter. The work of the German woman has made a sensation in social media.

Will the pond disappear?

The days of the fairy tale pond are unfortunately numbered. – Next week we are making another attempt – this time we will use a parking ban – the spokeswoman of the office announced.

As a consolation to the artist, she added that this route offers many possibilities for further artistic activities. The 33-year-old will undoubtedly benefit from them – she promised to embellish the next holes in the project under the name “Project Sommerloch” (“Summer Hole Project”).
