Spaniards resign from charging tolls for one thousand kilometers of highways

The new minister, José Luis Abalos, confirmed this week that tolls for motorways whose licenses will expire soon will be lifted. This applies in total to around 1 thousand currently paid roads.

Specifically, the tolls will be lifted on AP-1 between Burgos and Álava (84 km), AP-7 between Alicante and Tarragona (474 km) and AP-4 between Seville and Cadiz (94 km). On the AP-1 license will expire in November this year, so this road will be free for trucks from December. On the other hand, AP-7 and AP-4 will be withdrawn after the concession expires in December 2019. The AP-2 between Zaragoza and the Mediterranean and the AP-7 between Tarragona-La Jonquera and Montmeló-El Papiol (total 479 km) will also become free of charge.

In Spain, the toll applies on a total of 3,307 km of motorways.

Tyrol will introduce Saturday traffic bans during the summer

Block checks, sectoral, night and Sunday traffic bans are not enough for Tyroleans. The local government will add Saturday’s ban on trucks, which will apply in July and August.

Trucks will be stopped at the Austrian-Italian border, because on the German side, on the Bavarian motorway A93 the Saturday’s ban on truck traffic is in force in the summer. In this way, the authorities in Tyrol want to avoid congestion in the region.
