Unit sales at the Traton Group, which owns the Scania and MAN brands, declined in the first quarter of this year.

“As expected, the Traton Group had a slow start to 2025. The first quarter saw lower unit sales in a challenging market environment. According to preliminary data, a total of 73,100 vehicles were delivered to customers in Q1 2025 – a 10% drop compared to the same period last year. In Q1 2024, the Group was still benefiting from a strong order backlog. However, unit sales of fully electric vehicles rose sharply,” the group said in an official statement.

Between January and March this year, the group sold 22,200 Scania trucks – a year-on-year decline of 16%. MAN reported a similar trend, with 20,600 vehicles sold, representing a 14% drop compared to the first quarter of 2024.

Both brands recorded growth in electric vehicle sales, although the overall share remains small. Scania sold 100 electric vehicles in the first three months of 2025 (up from 50 in Q1 2024), while MAN delivered 380 electric trucks, compared to 140 in the same period last year.
