Volvo FH Electric receives international recognition as “Truck of the Year 2024”

The Volvo FH Electric has recently been chosen as the International Truck of the Year 2024.

Volvo’s robust electric truck earned accolades from the judging panel for its impressive performance, seamless acceleration, subdued noise levels and lack of vibrations.

This marks the fourth occasion that Volvo’s FH model has been honored with the Truck of the Year title. Boasting a remarkable track record with close to 1.4 million units sold globally, the Volvo FH is considered one of the most successful models in the industry.

The electric variant, Volvo FH Electric, is capable of handling a total weight of 44 tonnes. Production of this electric model commenced in 2022 at Volvo’s facility in Gothenburg, Sweden, and expanded to the Ghent, Belgium factory in 2023.

Volvo Trucks was the first global manufacturer to initiate series production of electric trucks back in 2019. Presently, the company boasts a diverse electric lineup, comprising six trucks designed to cater to various transportation needs. With a commanding 49% market share, Volvo Trucks leads the heavy electric truck market in Europe.

The International Truck of the Year organization, established in 1977, consists of 24 commercial vehicle journalists from prominent trucking magazines across Europe.

This annual award recognizes the truck introduced to the market in the previous year that has made the most significant contribution to road transport efficiency.

The evaluation encompasses criteria such as technological innovation, comfort, safety, driveability, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
