Waberer’s has taken extraordinary measures to protect its drivers and has suspended its operations in the quarantined areas of northern Italy, as the Hungarian daily economics paper Vilaggazdasag reported. According to the Hungarian transporting company, there were no Waberer’s drivers in the closed areas by Tuesday.

The measure entered into force on Monday, 24 February. The company made the decision to protect the health of its drivers and prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

This means that Waberer’s suspended its transport duties to and from the North Italian Lombardy and Veneto areas for two weeks starting last Sunday. Also, the company is not taking any new orders from the region – reports the Vilaggazdasag.

The company will continue to ship to areas not under quarantine.

Let us remind the readers that quarantine means that none can enter or leave an area.

Quarantines in Northern Italy

The regions of Veneto and Lombardy are the most infected areas in Italy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo e San Fiorano and Veneto). Police enforced quarantine by the military controls, to stop the virus from spreading.

Drivers can’t go in or out of these quarantined areas. To avoid the spread of the epidemic, such measures can be introduced at any time in other regions and other towns in the event of an outbreak.

Anyone who is in an area when a new quarantine is set up cannot leave it for any reason until it has ended.
