Jacky Perrenot, a French carrier who’s been in the industry for more than 75 years, is set to acquire 168 electric heavy goods vehicles with significant support from Ademe, as the transport and logistics group receives a substantial subsidy of €10 million.
Recognized for its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Jacky Perrenot emerged as the winner in Ademe’s “Ecosystems for Heavy Electric Vehicles” call for projects, actu-transport-logistique.fr reports.
The Ecological Transition Agency is thus channeling €10 million toward Jacky Perrenot, earmarked for the acquisition of 168 electric trucks and the establishment of 90 charging stations. This funding follows a prior allocation of €3.9 million in 2022, dedicated to the purchase of 30 heavy goods vehicles, 40 electric LCVs, and the associated infrastructure deployment nationwide.
Jacky Perrenot, with an ambitious goal to cut carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, initiated its decarbonization strategy in 2012 with the introduction of CNG-powered vehicles. Currently, 18% of its fleet comprises alternative energy vehicles, and the company is making substantial investments in electric solutions.
With a target of over 250 electric vehicles by 2025, Jacky Perrenot is diversifying its energy mix by incorporating green hydrogen. The company is set to operate its first hydrogen-powered vehicle by year-end, with additional vehicles slated for 2024 and 2025 as part of various projects, including Hyammed, Hyzone, R’Hyse, and Corridor H2.
