Truck bans in Europe this June

There are a number of truck bans in place throughout Europe this month, most of which are in connection with national public holidays.

Our summary of the truck bans is as follows:

June 2nd

  • Austria – heavy goods vehicles are banned from 9am to 10pm on the A12 and Brennerautobahn A13 towards Italy in connection with the Italian public holiday. The ban applies to tractors with trailers with a GVW over 3.5 tonnes, as well as trucks and articulated vehicles with a GVW exceeding 7.5 tonnes.
  • Italy – a ban is in place from 7am to 10pm and applies to heavy goods vehicles with a DMC pf 7.5 tonnes and above. 

June 4th

  • France – from 10pm to midnight, preceding the holiday ban on heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes.
  • Luxembourg – from 9.30pm to midnight towards France and from 11.30pm to midnight towards Germany. The restriction applies to trucks whose GVW with or without a trailer exceeds 7.5 tonnes.
  • Poland – from 6pm to 10pm. The ban covers heavy goods vehicles with a GVW over 12 tonnes; it does not apply to trucks returning from abroad.
  • Hungary – from 10pm to midnight, lorries and tractors with trailers with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes will not be allowed to drive on specific roads.

June 5th

  • Austria – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • France – from 0:01 to midnight
  • Luxembourg – from 0:01 to 9.45pm
  • Germany – from 0:01 to 10pm (it will not be possible to drive on German roads at that time heavy goods vehicles with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes and heavy goods vehicles with trailers)
  • Poland – from 8am to 10pm
  • Slovenia – from 8am to 10pm
  • Switzerland – from 0:01 to midnight
  • Hungary – from 0:01 to 10pm

June 6th

  • Austria – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • France – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • Luxembourg – from 0:00 to 9.45pm,
  • Germany – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • Switzerland – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • Hungary – from 0:01 to 10pm
  • Italy – from 0:01 to 10pm (applies on the Brenner motorway for traffic north between Vipiteno / Sterzing and the Austrian border)

June 15th

  • Croatia – from 3pm to 11pm (ban applies to heavy goods vehicles and sets with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes, and trucks and vehicles with trailers exceeding 14 m in length)
  • Poland – from 6pm to 10pm

June 16th

  • Austria – from 00.01 to 10pm
  • Croatia – from 2pm to 11pm
  • Germany – from 0:01 to 10pm (the prohibition is only valid in the following states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland)
  • Poland – from 8am to 10pm
  • Italy – from 0:00 to 22:00 on the Brennero Autobahn

June 21st

  • Croatia from 3pm to 11pm

June 22nd

  • Croatia – from 2pm to 11pm

 June 25th

  • Croatia – from 4am to 2pm.
  • Slovenia – from 8am to 9pm. The ban applies to heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations with a GVW exceeding 7.5 tonnes and applies only to certain sections.

Poland summer truck traffic bans

From June 24th to September 1st, summer traffic bans for trucks are in force in Poland . Trucks over 12 tonnes cannot travel on Polish roads during this period:

  • on Fridays from 6pm to 10pm
  • on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm
  • on Sundays from 8am to 10pm
