Drivers across Europe are heading into a week of tougher speed enforcement, with police preparing a 24-hour “Speed Marathon” on 15 April as part of ROADPOL’s wider 13–19 April campaign. The operation is expected to involve more than 20 countries, with intensified roadside checks aimed at catching speeding drivers and cutting crash risk.

ROADPOL says speeding remains one of the main causes of fatal road collisions, which is why the campaign is built around visible, high-intensity enforcement. The biggest push comes on Wednesday, when participating police forces are due to run checks around the clock rather than only during routine patrol windows.

Some forces are already confirming how the action will work on the ground. Luxembourg police said they will carry out numerous speed checks nationwide for 24 hours, from 00:00 to 24:00 on 15 April, with particular attention during peak traffic periods.

ROADPOL has also highlighted a public-participation element in some countries. According to the organisation, Croatia and the Czech Republic invited citizens to suggest roads where speeding is a recurring problem, giving the campaign a more local and visible edge.
