BLG LOGISTICS and COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS have signed a strategic partnership agreement at the end of 2024, aiming to enhance automotive logistics and the handling of high & heavy goods between China and Europe. As part of the deal, BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven (ATB) will serve as a key entry port for the German market and a hub for distribution across Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Baltic states.
COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS plans to introduce a liner service to Bremerhaven, with at least two calls per month, streamlining vehicle imports from China. The agreement will allow Chinese manufacturers to leverage BLG LOGISTICS’ extensive network, providing end-to-end logistics solutions from production plants in China to dealerships across Europe.
“For Chinese manufacturers, Bremerhaven plays a crucial role as a port of entry into the European market. In particular, efficient logistical access to the German market – one of the most important sales markets for vehicle manufacturers – is of key importance,” stated COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS.
BLG LOGISTICS will integrate its seaport terminals, inland terminals, value-added technical services, and multimodal transport capabilities into the partnership. “For an open handling port like Bremerhaven, it is important to adapt to current market developments,” said Axel Bantel, Managing Director Sales at BLG Automobile Logistics. “This means that we have to take into account the changing requirements of our traditional customers and at the same time create efficient logistics solutions for new importers.”
With approximately 1.5 million vehicles handled, transported, or technically processed annually, BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven is one of the world’s largest car terminals. The facility spans 295 hectares, providing storage for up to 70,000 vehicles, alongside three technical centres offering a range of services to automotive customers.
