On January 1, 2019, Bulgaria introduced an e-vignette on paid roads. One more significant change is being prepared that will impact carriers.

The Bulgarian manager of the BGToll payment system informs about the introduction of an electronic vignette. At the same time, it emphasizes that fees remain unchanged for all categories of vehicles. With the entry of e-vignettes into effect, it is no longer necessary to place self-adhesive stickers on the windshield of the vehicle.

In the case of an inspection, the driver or owner of the vehicle is also not obliged to present a vignette purchase receipt. The operator emphasizes that all vignettes purchased in 2018, which will expire only in 2019, remain valid. Drivers must keep a valid sticker on the windshield until the vignette expires. They can also exchange them for an electronic vignette, although there is no obligation.

Users of toll roads in Bulgaria can purchase an electronic vignette:

– through the operator’s website,

– through the application available in the Google Play and App Store,

– by self-service terminals at sales points and regional offices of the Road Infrastructure Agency (АПИ)

– at the ticket office of all branches, as well as at regional offices of the Road Infrastructure Agency.

The operator announces changes for lorries

In the case of vehicles with a maximum permissible weight above 3.5 tonnes, vignettes will be valid until August 15, 2019. From August 16, 2019, these vehicles will be subject to a toll. We will keep you updated on further details.
