Windrose is establishing its first European site at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, where it plans to assemble electric trucks for the European market. The project marks the Chinese manufacturer’s initial industrial footprint in the EU and will be located on the Romeynsweel site along the Noorderlaan in Antwerp.
The port authority awarded Windrose a concession following a market consultation for two plots with a combined area of 9.5 hectares, intended for logistics and assembly activities. According to the port, the decision was made on the basis of economic, logistical and strategic criteria.
Under the plans announced, Windrose will ship truck components to Antwerp, where final assembly will take place. The completed vehicles are intended to comply with European certification requirements before being supplied to other EU markets. The company has also indicated that vehicles assembled in Antwerp could be exported beyond Europe, including to North America, although no volumes or timelines have been disclosed.
In addition to assembly, the Antwerp site will host research and development functions as well as after-sales activities. The setup is expected to generate local logistics operations and additional container traffic, primarily linked to inbound shipments of components from Asia.
The project, referred to as Windrose Park Antwerp, will be developed through a joint venture with Antwerp-based real estate partner Van Wellen Group. Windrose estimates that the site could create around 200 full-time jobs in the longer term, depending on how operations scale.
The company also plans to work with logistics providers and regional partners in the energy and battery sectors, although no specific partnerships have been announced.
No start date for assembly operations has been communicated, and Windrose has not released details on production capacity or planned sales volumes for the European market.
