Under the agreement, announced on 17 September, GRIDSERVE’s eHGV charging hubs will be added to Voltloader’s existing network of depot-based chargers, with the haulier also receiving preferential charging rates.
GRIDSERVE currently operates dedicated eHGV charging facilities at Baldock, Exeter, Tamworth, Stevenage and Markham Vale, and says six more hubs are due to open by the first quarter of 2027.
Voltloader said the additional public charging access would allow it to extend the range of journeys it can operate with electric HGVs, particularly across food and agricultural supply chains.
The partnership also gives GRIDSERVE further operational data on how its Electric Freightway infrastructure is used by electric trucks in day-to-day freight operations.
The Electric Freightway is part of the UK Government-backed Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator programme, which is supporting the rollout and testing of battery-electric HGVs and charging infrastructure.
